Painted Markings

For decades, painted road markings have been the industry standard. Paint is applied from 13 to 18 Wet Mils and immediately top-coated with glass bead for retroreflection. Since 2012, Environment Canada regulations require the use of low VOC paint (volatile organic compounds). We use low VOC solvent-based paint for municipal roads as it provides a fast-drying time under a wide-range of climatic conditions. We use low VOC waterborne paint for airports and some parking lots. Our equipment provides real time information (i.e. paint thickness, surface temperature) to our operators so they can meet contract specifications. Paint is an economical choice for many projects.
